How to stay ahead of updates from xAI, Perplexity, Google and OpenAI...
Hey there.
Over the next few weeks the world of AI is set to change dramatically.
xAI is officially launching Grok 3 later today — with Elon Musk claiming “this might be the last time an AI is better than Grok”
Anthropic are gearing up to announce an upgrade to Claude 3.5 — a new reasoning model that is rumored to outperform o3
Perplexity created a Deep Research alternative that comes close to OpenAI’s version (at a fraction of the price)
Google just released an extended memory feature that allows us to reference previous conversations in any chat
OpenAI followed suit while also making ChatGPT more conversational, less biased, and more likely to offer multiple viewpoints
In any other industry this level of constant progress would be completely disruptive.
But inside The Rundown AI University, we know this is just how it is.
Everything we’re doing today doesn’t become irrelevant every time an update is announced.
It prepares us—and empowers us—as the technology becomes increasingly more capable.
Of course, it isn’t always easy to recognise what might be possible in the future.
So here’s an example, from the past, that might help to illustrate the point:
At the start of 2022, early adopters were using Midjourney to generate AI images like this:
While they weren’t particularly useful, or easy on the eye, it was clear to see the trajectory we were on.
As Midjourney rapidly developed, by the end of 2023, those who persisted and learned the best practices were able to consistently create unique photo-realistic images and improve the ways they brought the same ideas to life.
Now, those exact creators have been able to use that experience, and develop those skills, to create complete stories from scratch — reducing their reliance on artists, animators, and audio expertise.
Guillermo Castellanos combined a number of tools to create a high-quality trailer.
But if they hadn’t started early, they wouldn’t be able to do what they’re doing now.
They created a gap by having the foresight to adopt the technology before their peers.
And, this doesn’t just apply to visual artists:
Content writers who originally struggled with generic output can now generate dozens of on-brand, SEO-optimized blog variants every day
Developers who first figured out how to integrate AI into their workflows are now deploying full-stack features and building entire apps
Customer service leads who were frustrated by forgetful chatbots are now resolving the majority of their most complex inquiries with trained AI assistants
Educators who were held back by limited AI memory are now personalising knowledge to fit specific learning styles
Students who had to navigate inaccurate information can now learn, revise, and remember most topics independently
Fortunately, other opportunities just like these are currently wide open.
Professionals learning how to make AI work for them, right now, are still early adopters. (Although they’re starting from a place with significantly less restrictions.)
You’ve still got time to embed the necessary skills and tools into your work before they become commonplace.
And you’ve still got time to generate uniquely competitive results with AI before everyone else starts figuring it out.
So, yes, AI is almost certainly going to change dramatically over the next few weeks.
But for the people already in the room… honing cutting-edge skills… on world-leading platforms… in the most transformative industry in the world… not much will feel different.
In the last week alone, we’ve explored how to:
Build AI agents to automate tasks
Turn your best content into an AI creation system
Create your own AI-powered email assistant
Develop data-driven content strategies
Build phone apps with zero code
Create consistent visuals for your presentations
See you inside,
Rowan & The Rundown Team
