The AI assistants that understand your work...
Hey there.
We've always known that for AI to really help us become more productive, the major tools had to evolve past the chatbot stage.
Because taking screenshots, copy and pasting, and explaining each step keep your assistant completely separate from what you’re working on.
In the past couple of weeks, two of the world’s largest tech companies have invited us all to join the next stage of AI-assisted productivity.
Let's break down both of these game-changing announcements:
Microsoft Copilot in Edge – Vision & Voice
In our recent exclusive interview with Microsoft CEO, Mustafa Suleyman, he revealed Vision & Voice as part of their largest Copilot update yet.
Vision & Voice transforms your browsing experience in three key ways.
For research tasks, it actively analyzes the content you're viewing, comparing information across tabs and extracting insights from complex documents without any copying and pasting.
When you're creating content, it can observe your writing in real-time, offering suggestions and helping structure your thoughts based on all the research you have open.
And for general web use, it acts as an intelligent navigator, helping you find specific information and take direct action at your request.
Currently, Vision features are only available to Copilot Pro subscribers in the US, and Voice interactions are limited to 30 minutes per day inside Microsoft’s Edge browser.
And last week, inside The Rundown AI University, we released the tutorial How to Use Microsoft Copilot's Vision & Voice for Effective Browsing
This tutorial shows you how to:
Configure Copilot for academic research and complex document analysis
Use voice interactions for natural, conversational research assistance
Create summaries and expanded insights from research papers
Navigate between different Copilot features (summary, expand, chat)
Maximize your daily voice interaction time limits
Google Gemini Stream Realtime
In last week’s exclusive interview with Google Deepmind CEO, Demis Hassabiss, he unveiled Stream Realtime as part of their ambitious Gemini 2.0 release.
Stream Realtime shines in three major areas.
For developers, it provides continuous code analysis and suggestions, watching as you type and offering immediate feedback on structure, optimization, and potential bugs.
When working with data, it processes information streams in real-time, helping you spot patterns and generate visualizations instantly.
As a learning tool, it observes your work and provides contextual explanations, making it especially valuable when exploring new technologies or frameworks.
Right now, sessions are only available in English and are limited to 2 minutes through specific development environments.
And we just created an in depth tutorial called Transform AI into Your Personal Code Tutor with Gemini Stream.
It walks you through:
Setting up screen sharing in Google AI Studio for real-time assistance
Using natural conversation to get guided help with coding basics
Navigating new development environments with AI guidance
Getting instant feedback and corrections on your code (or your AI written code)
Making the most of Gemini's real-time visual understanding
The key difference between the two comes down to what you’re trying to achieve.
Copilot excels at a wide range of web-based tasks and allows for longer interaction times, while Gemini Stream specializes in short, intensive technical sessions that create immediate feedback loops anywhere on your computer.
Either way, both of these releases are promising to unlock new levels of productivity. Learning how to use each of them will be key to getting more done in less time as we move into a world of AI agents.
